These environments designate new forms of learning where the distance is not only distance in space or time as in traditional distance education, but includes the mediation of learning activities by ICTs (Information and communication technologies). With basis in these lines of thought, the talk will give examples of how socio-cultural theories have been used as frameworks for design of learning environments and what impact it has had on the students' collaboration.
